The Pearl Cichlid is a bold and highly underrated South American cichlid prized for its shimmering iridescent spotting, intelligent personality, and engaging interactive behavior. Despite its species name, Geophagus brasiliensis is not a true earth-eating Geophagus, but it does share the same habit of sifting substrate and reshaping its environment. Tank bred specimens adapt exceptionally well to aquarium life and develop striking coloration as they mature, making them an excellent centerpiece for larger semi-aggressive freshwater aquariums.

What We Love About This Fish

    Brilliant Pearl-Like Iridescence
Their scales shimmer with blue, green, and turquoise spotting across the body and fins.

Quickly learns to recognize its keeper and often greets activity outside the tank.

    Active Substrate Sifter
Constantly moves sand and substrate while foraging, adding life and activity to the aquarium.

A durable cichlid well suited for hobbyists looking to move into larger semi-aggressive species.
