At Nestor's Aquariums & Pets, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Our return policy is designed to balance customer satisfaction with the unique nature of live animals and aquarium products.

  • General Merchandise (Supplies, Equipment, Decor, Non-Live Items): You may return most unused, unopened, and undamaged items within 30 days of receipt for a full refund or exchange. Items must be in original packaging with all tags and accessories. Customized or engraved items, opened food/treats, and certain specialty items may be non-returnable. Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility unless the item is defective.
  • Live Animals (Fish, Invertebrates, Reptiles, Small Pets): Due to the sensitive nature of live animals, returns are strictly limited. We offer a 30-day guarantee on many live fish and invertebrates (subject to species-specific restrictions). For guaranteed animals:
    • Contact us immediately upon receipt if there is an issue.
    • For DOA (dead on arrival) or issues within the guarantee period, provide photos/video and water parameters (for aquatic life). We may offer a replacement, store credit, or refund at our discretion.
    • Live returns typically require customer responsibility for shipping back (at buyer's expense) in appropriate conditions. We do not accept returns of live animals in all cases due to health and welfare regulations.
    • Certain animals (e.g., some reptiles, or special orders) may have shorter guarantees or be final sale. Please check product pages for details.
  • Process: Initiate returns by contacting customer service at the details below or via your order confirmation. Approved returns receive a prepaid label where applicable (non-live only). Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5-10 business days after receipt and inspection. We reserve the right to refuse returns that do not meet policy criteria.

Refund Process

Once a returned item is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.

Approved refunds are generally processed within 5–10 business days.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method used during checkout.

Depending on your financial institution, additional processing time may apply before funds appear in your account.

Partial Refunds

In certain situations, only a partial refund may be granted.

Examples include:

  • Returned items showing signs of use
  • Missing accessories
  • Missing packaging
  • Damaged returns caused by improper customer packaging
  • Products returned in a condition different from when originally delivered

Any deductions will be communicated before refund completion.

Refused Deliveries

If a customer refuses delivery without prior authorization:

  • Original shipping charges may not be refunded.
  • Return shipping costs may be deducted from the refund.
  • Additional handling fees may apply.


Exceptions:
Sale/clearance items, perishable goods, and items prohibited by law. Defective items may qualify for replacement outside the standard window. This policy complies with applicable Canadian consumer protection laws (Manitoba) and does not affect your statutory rights.
